Setting Your Dining Table the Proper Way!

Finally, the holiday season is here. Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner, which means it is time for lots of food, family, and fun! Dinner parties are an essential way to celebrate these joyful times with your loved ones. AD Couture Home is here to help you have your most successful dinner party yet by showing you how to properly set your dinner table.

Setting the Table


Lets start with the "Informal" way:

1)First, put the plate in the center and place the napkin on top.
2)Place your largest fork (used for the main meal) directly to the left of the plate, followed by a smaller fork (used for an appetizer).
3)To the right of the plate, put the large dinner knife, followed by a smaller spoon, followed by a larger spoon.
4)In the top right corner, place the wineglass.
5)Lastly, place the water glass to the left and slightly above the wineglass.


The "Formal" way:

1)First, put the plate in the center and place a smaller plate (for salad/appetizers) on top. 
2)Next, put a larger fork to the left of the plate, followed by a smaller fork.
3)To the right of the plate, place the large dinner knife, followed by the smaller spoon, followed by a larger spoon.
4)To the very left of the forks is where you put the napkin.
5)*optional* To the right of the spoons, put your saucer with a teacup on top.
6)Directly above the forks, place your small bread plate and small bread knife on top.
7)To the right of this is where your cake fork and dessert spoon should go. (the fork's prongs should face towards the right and the spoon should face the opposite way.)
8)Place the name card right above the dessert spoon.
9)To the right of the name card is where you should put the water glass.
10)Lastly, put your red wineglass to the right and slightly below the water glass, and put the white wineglass to the right and slightly below the other wine glass.

Warm Holiday Drinks!

Since fall has just begun, we decided to help you start the holiday season off right with these hot chocolate inspired drinks! These toasty and delicious drinks are guaranteed to get you in the spirit and ready for the most joyful time of the year. 


Drink 1: Butterscotch White Hot Chocolate
Napkins available at AD Couture Home 

Ingredients: -2 cups milk
                      -2 cups half & half
                      -6 oz. white chocolate chips
                      -6 oz. butterscotch chips
                      -1/4 tsp. vanilla extract 
                      -whipped cream (optional)
                      -pumpkin pie spice (optional)

Directions: 1. Add milk and half & half together in a large pot over medium heat. Do not boil
                    2. Gradually pour in white chocolate and butterscotch chips and stir until creamy
                    3. Add vanilla extract and stir 
                    4. Serve in a mug and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice

Serves: 4-5 people


Drink 2: Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate
Emerald green napkins available at AD Couture Home

Ingredients: -3 cups half & half
                      -2/3 cups white chocolate
                      -1/2 tsp. pumpkin extract
                      -1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Directions: 1. Pour half & half in a medium/large pot and place over medium heat. Do not boil
                    2. Gradually add white chocolate and stir until mixture is creamy 
                    3. Add pumpkin extract and pumpkin pie spice and stir
                    4. Serve in a mug and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice

Serves: 3 people


Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate
Royal Napkins available at AD Couture Home

Ingredients: -2 tbsp cocoa powder
                      -2 tbsp sugar
                      -1 cup milk
                      -1/4 tsp pumpkin extract
                      -big or small marshmallows (optional)

Directions: 1. Pour milk in bowl/mug and heat in microwave for 1 minute
                    2. In  a separate mug, mix sugar and cocoa together
                    3. Slowly add milk to the mixture and stir until mixture is melted and smooth
                    4. Add pumpkin extract and stir
                    5. Top with marshmallow(s) and enjoy!

Serves: 1 person
